چکیده

The interface for the next generation of Unmanned Vehicle Systems should be an interface with multi-modal displays and input controls. Then, the role of the interface will not be restricted to be a support of the interactions between the ground operator and vehicles. Interface must take part in the interaction management too. In this paper, we show that recent works in pragmatics and philosophy [1] provide a suitable theoretical framework for the next generation of UV System’s interface. We concentrate on two main aspects of the collaborative model of interaction based on acceptance: multi-strategy approach for communicative act generation and interpretation and communicative alignment.

Mitigating Unmanned System Operations Challenges Through Shared, Collaborative Control

Unmanned vehicle (UxV) operations for Mine Countermeasures (MCM) offer the benefit of removing operators from minefields but pose unique operational challenges. On the Littoral Combat Ship (LCS), MCM UxV operations are performed by a team of up to seven operators and consist of multiple UxV systems, including vehicles (e.g., the Unmanned Surface Vehicle (USV), and the Remote Multi-Mission Vehic...

Dynamic Response of the Coupled Vehicle-Floating Slab Track System using Finite Element Method

In present study, a mathematical model of the vehicle–floating slab track (FST) interaction is established to investigate the coupled behaviour of vehicle–track system. The FST is modelled as the double Euler -Bernoulli beam including the rail and slab. The railway vehicle is simplified as a multi-rigid-body model. The wheel–rail interface is treated using a nonlinear Hertzian contact model, co...

Inverting the Operator/Vehicle Ratio: Approaches to Next Generation UAV Command and Control

A key obstacle in the growth of unmanned vehicle operations is the number of operators required to supervise and control an unmanned vehicle. New unmanned vehicle CONOPS call for an individual or small groups of tightly integrated operators to control several vehicles simultaneously. This push to invert the classic operator/vehicle ratio cannot be achieved solely by increasing the intelligence ...

A model-based method to support complex system design via systems interactions analysis

Designing a complex system is a multidisciplinary task that involves different profiles of engineers. In this collaborative process, each actor has specific skills, and nobody is able to consider the entire design project alone. From this observation two majors worlds have been identified, the system world including systems engineers and the physical world including discipline experts. Under th...

Vertical Dynamics Modeling and Simulation of a Six-Wheel Unmanned Ground Vehicle

Vertical dynamics modeling and simulation of a six-wheel unmanned military vehicle (MULE) studied in this paper. The Common Mobility Platform (CMP) chassis provided mobility, built around an advanced propulsion and articulated suspension system gave the vehicle ability to negotiate complex terrain, obstacles, and gaps that a dismounted squad would encounter. Aiming at modeling of vehicle vertic...
